DENSO millimeter-wave radar technology, which can detect obstacles on the road ahead, is used in pre-crash safety systems that identify an imminent collision to minimize crash damage and in adaptive cruise control systems that maintain vehicle distance.
The system uses information from a grille-mounted radar system to measure the distance to a vehicle ahead and, via the cruise control system, regulates vehicle speed and vehicle distance.
