Plants such as water hyacinth and water lettuce float freely, with their roots hanging into the water below.
In addition to Victorias, which make up a small percentage of the plants sold, Oregon Aquatics grows a few hundred water plants including big sellers such as water hyacinths and water lettuce.
Examples are the well-known water hyacinth with its purple painted flowers (and yes, this is the same plant that has become a noxious weed in Florida), and the sculptural water lettuce.
