The context of these sightings was remarkable in that these birds were active on a large swarm of Coastal Krill, together with Fairy Prions, Fluttering Shearwaters, White-fronted Terns, Silver Gulls, Black-browed and Shy Albatross, Giant-Petrels and Australasian Gannets.
On 16 June 1969 White-fronted Terns were seen diving into a swarm of krill to the south of Black Rock, where Fairy Prions, and Short-tailed and Fluttering Shearwaters were also feeding.
