By spending time in the cab of the tractor, rolling a few bales, cutting alfalfa with a windrower or harvesting a few acres of corn with the new Challenger combine, we have proven over and over that the Challenger product is some of the finest machinery available.
Last summer while working on a story, I stopped at a neatly kept farm along Peoria Road and introduced myself to a farmer who was working on a John Deere windrower.
Additional equipment included in the budget: a one-row potato digger (used) at $5,000; a potato windrower (used) at $2,500; washing equipment for roots at $1,000; and three drying boxes with an LP heater (homemade) at $2,500.
