In this method, xanthin and xanthin oxidase were used to generate superoxide radicals that react with 2-(4-iodophenyl)-3-(4-nitrophenol)-5-phenyl tetrazolium chloride (ITN) to form a red formazan dye.
Xanthin Oxidase (from microorganism), bovine serum albumin (BSA), 1-choloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CBNB), 5,5'-dithiobis-2-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB), reduced glutathione, oxidized glutathione, 2,6-dichlorophenol-indophenol (DCPIP), superoxide dismutase (from bovine erythrocytes), cytochrome c (from horse heart), cumene hydroperoxide, cholic acid, folin and ciocalteu's phenol reagent, and glutathione reductase were obtained from Sigma Chemical Co.
