Among the collection of Rosh Hashanah cards preserved by Yad Vashem is a New Year's portrait of Aaron and Sheyndel Blumen (upper left) that they sent to their loved ones from Luboml, Poland (now Ukraine) in 1926.
Detlev Hosenfeld, 82, received the award recognising his father as Righteous Among the Nations, an honour bestowed by the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem to people who helped Jews during the war.
