The arrest of the Maliks was dubbed "absurd" by Anjem Choudary, former head of the banned radical group
Al Muhajiroun, which Mr Malik had belonged to.
Syrian-born Bakri, 55, lived in the UK for 20 years and headed the now-disbanded radical Islamist group
al Muhajiroun.
The anti-racism group said Mr Choudary's
al Muhajiroun supporters were in Syria in numbers, pointing to rumours within the Islamist world that between 50 to 80 had travelled from the UK.
