Further, the ultrastructural studies of the monocot meristems seem to have been confined to a single report on Aphyllanthes monspeliensis, demonstrating that the active cambial cells are highly vacuolated with protein bodies seen occasionally in the vacuoles (Chakroun & Hebant, 1983).
