Bauhaus School

(c. 1919–33) A German school of architecture and applied arts founded by the architect Walter Gropius. The aim was to integrate the disparate arts and crafts under the principle of function dictating form. The influence of the bauhaus masters on modern architecture has been deep and long-lasting.
