n.1.(Bot.) An oval sac or cell, found in the leaves of certain plants of the order Araceæ. It has an opening at each end through which raphides, generated inside, are discharged.

Named the biforine (B) by Turpin (1836), this cell easily discharges a stream of crystals from the cell tips when pressure is applied to the sides (Middendorf, 1983).
