Prior to the synthesis of 9-12, 13-16 were prepared as precursors via Williamson etherification of 4-hydroxyl acetanilide with bromoalkanes in the presence of [K.sub.2]C[O.sub.3] in dry acetone.
4-Hydroxyl acetanilide (3 mmol) was added to bromoalkanes (3 mmol) in the presence of [K.sub.2]C[O.sub.3] (3 mmol) in dry acetone (20 mL).
The reaction involved alkylation of 4-acetamidophenol with a series of bromoalkanes ([C.sub.10], [C.sub.12], and [C.sub.14]) in the presence of [K.sub.2]C[O.sub.3] followed by hydrolysis to form benzenamine derivatives (intermediate) 1a-1c.
