The structures of both families of synthetic compounds may be considered as based on the layered structure of brucite, (Mg[(OH).sub.2]) [2].
In comparison, the cation occupying the Y position of the crystal structure forms a brucite structure with [O.sup.2-], O[H.sup.-], and [F.sup.-].
