Ca·nav·er·al(kə-năv′ər-əl, -năv′rəl), Cape
A sandy promontory extending into the Atlantic Ocean from a barrier island on the east-central coast of Florida. Named Cape Kennedy from 1963 to 1973, it is the site of NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the launching area for US space missions.
