Entre las actividades productivas ya mencionadas, la caceria juega un papel importante en la economia campesina para la subsistencia alimentaria, ya que toda la zona posee una gran riqueza faunistica, especialmente de mamiferos como la guagua (Cuniculus paca), el armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus), el venado (Mazama americana), y los puercos de monte (Tayassu tajacu y Tayassu pecari), aves como la pava (Penelope ortoni) y la perdiz (Tinamus major) y reptiles como la babilla (Caiman crocodylus) que se encuentran en las colinas bajas y altas, en los humedales y en la gran mayoria de las corrientes hidricas que fluyen hacia el Atrato (CODECHOCO et al., 2006).
