Operating profit decreased by 8% reported in Danish kroner and increased by 6% in local currencies to DKK12.4bn, which the company says reflects the significant depreciation of the US dollar and related currencies against the Danish krone.
The group admitted it had put in a disappointing performance as it reported pre-tax profits of 10.2 billion Danish krone (PS1.2 billion) against 12.4 billion Danish krone (PS1.5 billion) the previous year.
Sales growth reported in Danish kroner is expected to be 7 percentage points lower than in local currencies, reflecting the significant depreciation of the US dollar and related currencies versus the Danish krone. Likewise, reported operating profit growth is expected to be 10 percentage points lower.
Lego on Tuesday reported a 3 percent decline in net profit for the first six months of the year compared with the same period in 2016, falling to 3.4 billion Danish krone ($544 million), from 3.5 billion Danish krone.
