On 5 May 1945, a group of hikers came across a crashed/u-go balloon near Bly, Oregon, and in the process of trying to determine what the device was they caused it to explode, killing twenty-six-year-old Elsie Mitchell and five children.
It represents a major achievement for Richard and Elsie Mitchell from Dorset.

Elsie Mitchell, wife of trainer Richard, said: "This horse is improving all the time and I think he has helped put Charlie on the map.
Bred in Dorset by Elsie Mitchell, he was owned and trained by husband Richard for his first six starts and partnered to his first victory by their daughter Sophie in a Taunton maiden hurdle in January 2000.
