In this study, Mandarin Ducks spent a similar proportion of their time foraging as the Ferruginous Pochard Aythya nyroca (Muzaffar, 2004), and less than that of the Tundra Bean Goose Anser fabalis (64%) (Liu, 2011), Swan Goose Anser cygnoides (60.2%) (Zhang, 2009), and Tundra Swan (30.52%) (Shao et al., 2018).
In contrast, Nalban on the fringe of Salt Lake is the place to spot a large number of ducks and if lucky, even the rare Ferruginous Pochard. While the kingfisher is a common sight here, try to catch a glimpse of the endangered marsh mongoose before it disappears altogether because of urbanisation.
