Fosinopril sodium, chemically named sodium (2S,4S)-4-cyclohexyl-1-(2-{[2-methyl-1-(propanoyloxy)propoxy](4- phenylbutyl)phosphoryl}acetyl)pyrrolidine-2-carboxylate (presented in Figure 1(a)), is the only phosphinic acid derivative among the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors class.
