We present the first climate-related autecological study for the facultatively riparian plant, Glycyrrhiza lepidota (Fabaceae; American licorice), a nitrogen (N)-fixing [C.sub.3] herb widespread in the United States, southern Canada, and northern Mexico (United States Department of Agriculture, plants database, http://plants.usda.gov).
