Sinking, impressionistic crab flies are the most dependable when it comes to "grass bass," but if you're a gambling man like me, tie on a shrimp gurgler.
While many of the Grass bass hooked here are small, and so need to be released back to the water, there are also a number of two- to four-pound bass to test an angler's skill.
Other names include slabs, specks, speckled perch, white perch, speckled bass, strawberry bass, calico bass, grass bass, Oswego bass, paper mouth, sac-au-lait, and several other slang terms used only in select locations.
