Vegetation.-Little barley (Hordeum pusillum) was the dominant grass species recorded at all ten quadrats within the grazed site.
The fact that characteristic early-to-mid-successional grassland species (e.g., Hordeum pusillum, Hilaria belangeri, and Aristida oligantha) were absent from seed banks of Ashe juniper also implies that different successional trajectories may exist in grasslands and recently cleared juniper sites (Archer, 1990; Ansley and Rasmussen, 2005).
