A colorless, fuming corrosive liquid or a highly soluble corrosive gas, HF, that is extremely toxic, used in the manufacture of hydrofluoric acid, as a reagent, catalyst, and fluorinating agent, and in the refining of uranium and the preparation of many fluorine compounds.
