Indian peaches

A name applied to small white-fleshed peaches sometimes found around abandoned farmhouse sites. Such peaches probably grew on suckers from the original rootstock after the peach variety grafted onto the rootstock had died from neglect. The name Indian peach was used even though peaches are not native to the Americas.
