The cerebellum is located in the posterior fossa and is separated from the cerebrum by the tentorium cerebelli.[11,12] It is connected to the brainstem by the superior, middle and inferior peduncles. Fissures divide the cerebellum into three lobes: the anterior, posterior and flocculonodular lobes.[16] The anterior lobe receives most of the proprioceptive input, maintains equilibrium, coordinates automatic movements and regulates muscle tone.
