 (kŏs′o͞oth′, kô′sho͝ot′), Lajos 1802-1894.
Hungarian revolutionary leader who sought Hungary's independence from Austria. Declaring the Habsburg dynasty invalid, he briefly led a provisional government (1849) until Russia interceded on Austria's behalf.
