ne of my favourite stories as a child was LM Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables.
ANNE WITH AN E Netflix Return to Green Gables with this adaptation of LM Montgomery's cherished 1908 novel.
Anne with an E Netflix It's not entirely clear why Netflix felt this new adaptation of LM Montgomery's much-loved Anne of Green Gables needed a new name, but we suspect the title character would have approved - if you've read the books, you will know that Anne is very fussy about the spelling of her name.
Five tales to take you back to childhood: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Alice's Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, The Wind In The Willows by Kenneth Grahame and, our fave, Anne Of Green Gables by LM Montgomery (which is about to be released on Netflix, in case your kids don't know it).
As a child I loved the Malory Towers series by Enid Blyton, Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Susan Coolidge's What Katy Did stories, and Anne of Green Gables books by LM Montgomery. The book that moved me more than any other is Sebastian Faulks' Charlotte Grey.
Most of these stories are so different to those I read 74 years ago as an 11 year old--novels by LM Montgomery and Louisa M Alcott, Girls' Own Annual Stories etc.
