In family PKDF1532 a maximum LOD score of 2.37 at I, = 0 was observed with marker D7S2459 while in PKDF 1375, PKDF1547 and PKDF1116 a maximum LOD scores of 1.4, 0.65 and 1.53 at I, = 0 was observed.
Whole genome LOD score analysis under the assumption of full penetrance and a disease allele frequency of 0.001 revealed a significant LOD score over 2.9 on chromosomes 3p24.1-22.2, 13q33.2-34, and 15q22.2-25.1 (Figure 3).
Linkage maps were generated independently for each parent using JoinMap 3.0 (Van Ooijen and Voorrips, 2001) based on LOD scores (minimum LOD score of 3.0).
Genome-wide LOD score plots obtained via single-QTL scans for plasma CHO and TG concentrations in [F.sub.2] males are shown in Figures 1 and 2.
The difference between the 2 [log.sub.10] likelihoods generates a logarithm of odds (LOD) score that is correspondent to the classical LOD score of linkage analysis.
A highly significant (p = 0.0002) QTL, located at 38.46 cM (D19Mit53) on chromosome 19, had a LOD score of 5.78.
Generally a LOD score of greater than 2.4 is suggested to avoid false positives while detection of QTLs (Lander and Botstein, 1989).
Linkage analysis between BHD and the c.868T>C mutation generated a two-point (single marker) LOD score of 10.4 (at [theta] = 0.0 and 80% penetrance).
A linkage analysis resulted in a high maximal LOD score of 8.26 (theta = 0.0) for the marker D3S1263, which is in the same chromosome region as VHL.
Changes in the LOD score profiles in these different subgroups can reflect interaction of that allele with loci linked to the phenotype [25].
Two-point LOD score was calculated for each microsatellite marker with MLINK.
