Marxism-Leninism

Karl Marx 1818–83, promulgated that human actions and institutions are economically determined, that class struggle is the basic agency of historical change, and that communism will eventually supersede capitalism. Lenin adopted the ideological basis but modified and interpreted it to stress that capitalism survived through imperialism. He developed the idea of the Communist Party as a professional elite leading the struggle against capitalism, and thereby eventually exercising a post-revolutionary dictatorship of proletariat.
