Some groups, as Lepto- and Anthomedusae have metagenic life cycles with benthic stages, alternating sexual and asexual reproductive processes that may lead to seasonally jellyfish blooms in coastal waters (Palma & Rosales, 1995; Palma & Apablaza, 2006; Purcell et al., 2007).
