In a less well-known portion of his essay on the concept of ownership (usually cited for its catalog of the "incidents" of ownership), Honore distinguishes between what he calls unititular and multititular systems, the latter being those in which independent titles can be formed without being hived off from some previous chain of title, as with adverse possession.
