Flathead fishes of the genus Platycephalus, family Platycephalidae, were widely distributed in the tropical and temperate areas of the Indo-West Pacific and eastern Mediterranean (Hureau, 1986; Shao and Chen, 1987; Imamura, 1996; Knapp, 1999; Qin et al., 2013).
