Gusman Chaves (1970) in studies carried out in alpacas, points out that they have a single stomach with three proventricles similar to those of the camel and whose names would be "rumen, reticulum and omaso-abomasum." The three gastric compartments described in the llama seems to be equivalent to those described by Amasaki et al.
