While the name Alpha Centauri is certainly its most popular designation, the star is also known as Rigil Kentaurus (or Rigil Kent for short), coming from the Arabic phrase meaning "the centaur's foot." It is also known by two lesser-used titles, Toliman and Bungula.
About a third of the way from there to the map's center is the bright star Alpha ([alpha]) Centauri (Rigil Kent).
