(Zool.) Any one of several species of Old World sparrows of the genus Petronia, as Petronia stulla, of Europe.
A North American sparrow (Pucæa ruficeps).

The coastal khawrs are home to water birds and migratory birds like Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Lesser flamingo, African Spoonbill, Long-toed Stint, Herons, Pintail Snipes, Baillon's Crakes and Pale Rock Sparrows.
