phoebe), robin adults and juveniles (Turdus migratorius), house wrens (Troglodytes aedon) (Figure 5), and multiple other unidentified Passerines.
We did not have a blood sample for the Basileuterus rufifrons individual because the fly parasitizing this bird was provided to us from another project taking place in the same area; hence, only blood samples for Sayornis
nigricans and Chlorospingus flavopectus were screened for haemosporidians.
Also included were specimens referred to Sayornis
and Dryobates that I have reclassified as Tyrannus and Sphyrapicus.
Twelve species present in the unburned site were absent in the burned, including: Kentucky Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis

Some, like the ringed turtledove, Streptopelia risoria (Nottebohm and Nottebohm 1971), and the eastern phoebe, Sayornis
phoebe (Kroodsma and Konishi 1991) have a genetically determined, structurally simple and stereotyped song, whereas in all oscine passetines song is learned (Marler and Peters 1977).
Increase in trees in the Great Plains from fire suppression or tree planting is considered a main cause of range expansions of Western Kingbirds (Tyrannus verticalis; Gamble and Bergin, 1996), Eastern Phoebes (Sayornis
phoebe; Weeks, 1994), Eastern Bluebirds (Sialia sialis; Gowaty and Plissner, 1998), Blue Jays (Cyanocitta cristata; Smith, 1978; Tarvin and Woolfenden, 1999) and Brown Thrashers (Toxostoma rufum; Cavitt and Haas, 2000).
