(Biography) Karlheinz (karlˈhaints). 1928–2007, German composer, whose avant-garde music exploits advanced serialization, electronic sounds, group improvisation, and vocal and instrumental timbres and techniques. Works include Gruppen (1959) for three orchestras, Stimmung (1968) for six vocalists, and the operas Donnerstag (1980) and Freitag (1996)
