1 cm in diameter, densely white-lanate; scape bracts, the basal ones subfoliaceous, the upper ones erect, sublinear-lanceolate, 10.5-11.5 x 2.5 cm, acuminate, ending in a subrigid spine, densely imbricate and completely enfolding the scape, distinctly exceeding the internodes, entire, paleaceous, densely white-lepidote outside, glabrous and wine colored inside.
