My previous research conducted on the role of the TM movement in Fairfield, Iowa, centered on the relationship between environmental sustainability and TM.
The richness of the ethnographic data presented here both facilitates the classification of TM and illustrates the complex emic viewpoint in the TM movement. It is this last point in particular that is important for the main argument of the thesis--that of the relationship between the postcharismatic phase and schismogenesis--and one of the key points is incoherence in the perceptual paradigm.
