Binay said that based on a brochure provided by the DENR titled "Addressing the Illegal Wildlife Trade in the Philippines," the most traded species in the Philippines namely Philippine forest turtles, Palawan pangolin, Hawskbill turtle, blue-naped parrot, Southeast Asian box turtle, Hill mynah, Asian leaf turtle, and Tockay gecko between 1996 and 2009.
Species like the monitor lizard, mongoose, Slender Loris, Star Tortoise, spiny- tailed lizards, pangolins, fresh water turtles, Indian tent turtle, double headed snake, pythons, sea horses, sea cucumbers, molluscs, seven types of sharks, Rhesus Macaques, langoors, Tockay Geckos, antelopes, jackals, butterflies and birds like parakeets, Finn's Baya, Green Avadavat, Hill Mynahs, Great Pied Hornbills, peacocks, and sparrows are fast vanishing from their habitats, wildlife protectionists have warned.
