Triplochiton scleroxylon (wawa, obeche), a hardwood species, but with a soft, easy workable wood, and abundant in the forest at that time, took over as the most important species and, in 1957, made up over sixty per cent of timber exports.
The district has different tree species that have high economic value including Mahogany (Khaya ivorensis), Onyina (Ceiba pentandra), Wawa (
Triplochiton scleroxylon), Asanfena (Aningeria spp.) and Denya (Cylicodiscus gabunensis).
