The TST was performed according to the Mantoux method by injecting 5 tuberculin units (TU) of purified protein derivative into the inner surface of the forearm and then measuring the maximal size of the induration after 72 hours, as recommended [6].
The studied sensitinswere administered subcutaneously into depilated parts of the skin at 0.0005 mg, 0.001 mg, and 0.002 mg in 0.1 cm3 of physiological saline to determine the tuberculin units of the sensitins.
The QFT-GIT test was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions and positive test result was defined as [greater than or equal to]0.35 IU/mL, while the TST was performed using the Mantoux method with 2 tuberculin units (TU) of purified protein derivative RT23 (Statens Serum Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark) on the volar side of the forearm.
Participants who had an immunosuppressive disease, active TB or abnormal radiological findings suggestive of TB were excluded TST was performed by injecting 0.1ml (5 tuberculin units) of purified protein derivate (PPD) intradermally into the volar part of the forearm.
To perform a TST, inject 5 tuberculin units (0.1 mL) of purified protein derivative (PPD) intradermally into the inner surface of the forearm using a 27- to 30-gauge needle.
Tuberculin skin testing was made by means of an intradermal injection of 2 tuberculin units of PPD.
