The West Slavic language spoken in the southern part of the historical region of Lusatia.

[Probably translation of German Obersorbisch : ober, higher (from the fact that southern Lusatia is more mountainous and at a higher elevation than northern Lusatia) + Sorbisch, Sorbian.]
