(wô′tərz, wŏt′ərz), Muddy Originally McKinley Morganfield. 1915-1983. American blues musician whose band shaped the hard-edged, electric Chicago blues sound of the 1950s and greatly influenced British and American popular music. His noted songs include "Mannish Boy" and "Trouble No More" (both 1955).
