Remarks: The new species is included in the genus Hawaiioscia since all the most important characters (number and position of noduli laterales, maxillular teeth, penicil on maxillipedal endite, uropod and shape of male pleopod) correspond to the definition of that genus (see diagnosis in Taiti & Howarth 1997).
Finding trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole-resistant strains isolated from milk is relevant because this antibiotic is frequently used to treat listeriosis in patients who are allergic to penicil lin (Aureli et al., 2003).
