The variable stiffness loading mode uses the
torsion bar spring as the loading medium and changes the stiffness by adjusting the working length of the
torsion bar spring.
1, in Figure 1(a)), which the authors' laboratory designed and which is used in the authors' university, the authors established a mathematical model of double-arm
torsion bar suspension guide mechanism kinematics, as shown in Figure 1(b).
Its suspension system is made up of high-hardness-steel
torsion bars with rotary shock absorbers.
All trailers have
torsion bar axles, aluminum wheels, a top-wind tongue jack, and optional top, front, and rear storage as well as water tanks and LED lighting.
Shove the
torsion bar to the left, then slide on the center bearing.
The lubrication instructions in WP 0097 of TM 9-2350-256-20-1 (Nov 05) say to lube the door's
torsion bar every three months with GAA.
They've deployed an internal
torsion bar and rotary damper in the tailgate so that it is (a) easier to open and close thanks to the mechanical advantage offered by the
torsion bar and (b) opens in a controlled, gradual manner, thanks to the damper.
Independent suspension all round helps the all-wheel-drive models to stay planted on the ground, while the front-drive models have an H-shaped
torsion bar at the back.
The
torsion bar, usually associated with a trailing arm, is very popular with "hulled" armoured vehicles, as it enables their designers to make the best possible use of the space determined by the vehicles track.
The core of the design is a V-shaped hull, or skateboard, that houses a Steyr 3.2-litre straight six-diesel powerpack, propshaft, six-speed ZF gearbox, AxelTech differentials, fuel tank and all the suspension gear except a
torsion bar which is mounted alongside the hull.
The independent
torsion bar axle and suspension adjust to any weight load for smooth towing, and the hubs feature Bearing Buddy lubrication for easy maintenance.
