Communist Party

A party formally constituted in Russia in March 1918 from the Bolshevik Party that became the ruling party. Similar, minority parties were created elsewhere. In all countries within the Soviet sphere of influence, the Communist Party was the ruling party, usually the only one permitted, until the 1990s.
