(pĕn′tə-bär′bĭ-tôl′, -tăl′)n. A barbiturate, C11H17N2O3Na, that takes effect relatively rapidly, used as a sedative, a hypnotic, and an anticonvulsive drug, and for euthanasia. Also called pentobarbitone.
