Three types of odontogenic tumors have been described in Veterinary literature: fibromatous epulis, ossifying epulis and acanthomatous epulis. While fibromatous and ossifying epulides are confined to gingiva, acanthomatous epulides often extensively invade adjacent bone (Head et al., 2002).
Anatomo-pathologically, they are classified in fibromatous epuli, peripheral odontogenic fibroma (ossifying epuli) and peripheral ameloblastoma (acanthomatous epuli) (Baba and Catoi, 2007).
