The RAF is conducting NATO Baltic Air Policing, along with Estonia, amid growing tensions between the Kremlin and the West.
"Air Policing is a peacetime NATO mission that involves use of the system for control of the air space and management of the system for command and control of the aviation forces with proper forces and means of anti-air defense to protect the air space of the NATO member states," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
NATO Allied Air Command has announced that the Polish Air Force has taken over responsibility for leading NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission out of Siauliai Air Base, Lithuania, the air command said.
During the training, the fighter aircraft successfully completed all missions as well as Air Policing one, which involved the interception and the forced landing of an airplane flying without authorization through the airspace of both countries.
Meanwhile, the Estonian authorities decided to ban the Spanish aircraft from taking part in the air policing missions over its territory for a while.
