arthritis

The term used to refer to a variety of inflammatory or degenerative diseases that damage joints. Acute forms are commonly caused by bacterial invasion. Examples of arthritis (not of acute forms) include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gouty arthritis.
